Dale William Eck

1923-2012

Dale William Eck was born at home in Providence Utah, on September 14, 1923, to William and Myrtle Eck. Dale had seven siblings: Evelyn; Wilma; Ray; Roy; Reed; Shirley; and Bud. The family moved to a farm in Dayton, Idaho, in 1929. Dale was drafted into the Army and served from 1944 to 1946. After his discharge from the Army he met the love of his life, Marlene Maughan, and was married May 25, 1950, in the LDS Temple in Logan, Utah. They had four children: Alan (Cherie) Eck; Shelly (Tom) Boyd; Dixie (Curtis) Aderhold; and Wendy (Wayne) Rebich; and four grandchildren: Owen Eck; Anny (Justin) Firth; Joseph Crowe; and Kylie Rebich; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Dale started a raw milk hauling business, which he operated for seven years, before moving the family and buying a farm near Sheridan, Montana. In 1963, the Ecks sold the farm and went to work for John Sawyer’s Circle S Ranches, where Dale pursued his passion for livestock and particularly horses. The family moved to the Grasshopper Valley in 1964, and in 1974, Dale became manager of the ranch that was his home for nearly 40 years.
Dale died on November 11, and was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and his loving wife, Marlene.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14 from 5–8 p.m. at Brundage Chapel, with funeral services on Thursday, November 15 at 10 a.m. at the LDS Church in Dillon.
