James Clark
1949 - 2012

James Clark, 62, of Dillon, was taken from us on March 11, after an accident in his home.
Jim was born in Minot, N.D., on Oct. 24, 1949, to James Sr. and Doris Clark. He went to school in Minot, and attended Minot State University before receiving a math scholarship at the University of Oregon in Eugene, and moved there in late 1968.
He also lived in Denver, Colo., and Portland, Ore., before settling in Dillon.
He was known to have excellent workmanship with the drywall construction he held for 30 years.
His house became a home after adding a basement under a house that did not have one. Redoing the entire main floor and almost completing a large extended upstairs bedroom.
He made many friends in the fifteen years he lived in Dillon.
He loved keeping up on physics and math research, and walking his beloved dogs, Nitro, and later Jett.
The Farmers Market was a regular stop, along with local coffee shops. He also loved National Public Radio and R&B music.
At age 16, he removed an engine in a 1955 Chevy, in his dad’s garage, and put in a 'soupedup' one. His love for old cars never ended as he attended many car shows; most recently with a Chevy LUV pickup.
He gave generously to this community in hundreds of hours of volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity homes, and quietly helping individuals in need.
He had several visits by his step-grandson, Cody, over summer months.
He is survived by his brother, Bob Clark; sister, Julie Baker; and a niece from Fargo, N.D.; and a nephew in Broomfield, Colo.
Memorial services are being planned for this spring in Dillon.

Sharon Graveley Tamcke
1938 - 2012

Sharon Graveley Tamcke, 73, passed away March 13 in Dillon in the manner in which she lived her life, with dignity and class.
She was born the eldest of three daughters to Betty and Arnold Graveley. Raised on the family ranch, north of Avon, Sharon attended the Avon School and graduated from Powell County High School in 1956, where she was elected prom queen.
Following graduation, she was searching for a barrel racing horse to prepare for the Butte Rodeo competition, and a young man from the south Deer Lodge Valley, Don Tamcke, stepped forward. They would become partners, best friends, and man and wife for 53 years.
Sharon was a mentor and mother to her three children, Kathy, Tom and Janet. She was a seamstress, cooked for a crew, and always looked like a million bucks at social occasions. There was always room for an extra plate at the Tamcke table.
Her grandchildren and their friends fondly called her “ Hawk.”
She was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years, and was active in valley community projects.
During her long illness, she comforted family, friends and caregivers with her laugh, gentle voice and beautiful smile.
She is survived by husband, Don; daughter, Kathy and husband, Fred Coleman; son, Tom and wife, Debbie Tamcke; and daughter, Janet and husband, Jock McDowell; six grandchildren, Lacey Eighorn and fiancé, Josh Shrum, Dalton Tamcke, Royce Tamcke, Jake Coleman, Clay Coleman and Conner Coleman; her two sisters, Linda and husband, Dave Treadwell, and Jerri Quartey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials can be made in Sharon’s name to the charity of choice.
Services were held March 17 at Jewell Funeral Home in Deer Lodge.

Donald Ferdinand Schwegman
1926 - 2012

Donald Ferdinand Schwegman, age 85, died on March 5, at the Grand Lake Villa in Grove, Okla.
Don was born July 15, 1926, in Okarche, Okla. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, then with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He and Elizabeth (Betsy) Johnston were united in marriage in Drexel Hill, Penn., on May 2, 1959, and then moved to the Dillon area where they lived until 1975.
While in Dillon, he owned Don's Shoe and Boot Repair. Many people may remember the big wooden boot that hung from the building on Idaho Street for many years.
After selling the shop, Don attended Western Montana College, graduated in 1974 with a bachelor's degree, and then taught as a junior high industrial arts teacher in Kalispell.
Don and Betsy relocated to Grove, Okla., in 1989 where he was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church.
He loved working with his hands, and had many hobbies including fishing, making knives, building canoes, leather work, welding, picking berries and vegetable gardening, to name a few.
Donald is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betsy) Schwegman; daughters, Barbie Townsell and her husband Tommy, and Donna Wells.
