Brendan Glenn Reints

1980 - 2013


Brendan Glenn Reints, 33, of Dillon, passed away on April 10, 2013. He was born on March 18, 1980, in Sheridan, to Danny Devers and Robin Lake.
 Brendan loved his family and always enjoyed being active and doing things with his brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Dillon Jr. Fiddlers and graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1998. He attended and graduated from UM Western with a Master’s degree in Business and was awarded the Rush Jordan Top Male Student Award. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, April Marie Carpenter, in 2006, and they have two beautiful children, Corbin and Mira. Brendan was a family man and adored his children.
 He worked as a web designer and enjoyed helping people on computers. He liked schooling and fixing things and was a talented handyman. He also loved the great outdoors, and skiing, fishing, hunting, paintball, camping, four-wheeling, mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing.
 Brendan was preceded in death by: his great-grandfather and mother, Johnie and Mable Devers; great-grandmother Erna Reints; grandfathers Dick Carpenter and Carl Brown; and grandmother Nancy Lake.
 Brendan is survived by: his wife, April, son Corbin and daughter Mira; his parents, Robin (William “Opie”) Reints of Ennis and Danny (Gennene) Devers of Dillon; his brothers and sisters—Tryston (Jenny) Reints of Ennis, Whittney Reints of Lolo, Weston (Kendra) Devers of Medina, OH, and Andrea Devers of Bozeman; by his father and mother-in-law, Rick and Julie Carpenter of Willow Creek; brothers and sister-in-law Ryan (Jennifer) Carpenter, Mike, Jim, David, Steven and Kendall Carpenter; grandparents Harvey and Boots Lake of Dillon, Dale and Judy Devers of Twin Bridges, Elso and Marlene Reints of Ennis, Shirley Carpenter of Dillon, Karen Brown of Dillon and Uncle Jack Reints of Ennis, and by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
 A visitation and funeral services took place Tuesday, April 16, in Dillon, with burial following at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made at State Bank and Trust to the Reints Children Education Fund.



Norman Elvira “Dollie” Miskowic 

1936 - 2013


Minerva Elvira “Dollie” Miskowic, 77, of Dillon, passed away surrounded by her family on April 11.  She was born on Feb. 14, 1936, in Leadville, CO, to John and Viola Luoma.  Dollie traveled all over the U.S., attending family reunions and visiting friends. Dollie lived in Germany for three years and visited Switzerland and Belgium. Dollie was always up for an adventure and exploring the areas that she visited.
 She began VolksMarching in Germany and continued upon returning to the U.S. She enjoyed outings with the Senior Center in Leavenworth, exercising with residents of Legacy, water aerobics, spinning at the YMCA,  playing the odds at the casinos and sharing a good toddy with friends and family. She loved making people smile and laugh, and had a wonderful loving spirit.
 She was preceded in death by: her husband, Gerald Miskowic; and her brothers Frank, Fred and Herb Luoma.  She is survived by: her brothers Robert Luoma of Bend, OR, Vern Luoma of Golden, CO, and Jack Luoma of Littleton, CO; sister Viola Weldon, of Thorton, CO; her children, Gerald Miskowic of Lansing, KS, Lawrence Miskowic of Olathe, KS, Cheryl Miskowic of Dillon;  grandchildren Jessica Herren of Dillon, Samantha Guisbert of Dillon, Stephen Miskowic of Abilene, TX, Daniel Miskowic of Lansing, KS, Jack, Miskowic of Beaver Falls, PA, Taren and Remington Murray of Lansing, Kansas; and great grandchildren Harper Felo, Elizabeth Herren and Savannah Herren of Dillon.
 A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, April 19, at 4 p.m. at the family residence, 10 Hughes Ln.
 Although we will miss her presence, we will rest in the knowledge that she has gone to join her Father in Heaven and is reunited with family and friends that have preceded her in death. Rest assured that she will be watching over us from above and will surely find ways to make us laugh and smile still.

Norman Eugene Empey

1928 - 2013


Daddy, it was much too soon!
Norman Eugene Empey, 84, passed away April 5, 2013.
He was born in Idaho Falls, ID, to Worth and Margaret Empey on August 15, 1928. He spent many years in Lima, with older brother Stanford and younger sister Claire. He considered Lima his “home.” He returned often to see friends, to fish and to hunt. Many happy times were spent there with all the children and grandchildren.
In Lima, he met the love of his life, Nedra Bybee. They married on February 28, 1950, in Butte. Together, they have five children: Jennifer (Keith), Gail, Marshall (Debbie), Jeffrey (Lindy) and Allyson (Brad).
Norman retired after a 45-year career with Union Pacific Railroad. Prior to the advent of computers, he worked as a telegrapher, communicating by Morse code. He sent the last message by Morse code for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Norman owned five antique cars, dating from a 1920s Model T, to a 1951 Ford truck. Airplanes, trains, boats and golf were his other passions. He built a sailboat, every winter flew his model airplanes and every summer was on the golf course.
He will be greatly missed by his dozen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, many of whom had their first driving experience in Grandpa’s golf cart. Later, they graduated to Grandpa’s motorcycles.
Norman is preceded in death by his parents, sister Claire, one grandchild, Hillary, and one great-grandchild, Balin.
The memorial will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Pocatello Elks Club.



Buster Brown

1934 - 2013


Buster passed away April 5, 2013, at Barrett Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Boone, NC, on November 3, 1934, to Gwyn and Ruby (Grogan) Brown. In 1939, his family, including his brothers Baxter and Benny, traveled by train to Armstead to live on his grandfather Ambrose Brown's homestead, where two more children, Elizabeth (Sis) and Tom, were born.Buster went to grade school in Armstead and graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1952.
He met and married Shirley Cote in 1956. They had five children. Buster spent the next 55 years working on the Horse Prairie for several area ranches, including the LC Livestock, the James Ranch, the Pierce Ranch and the Barrett Ranch. In 1984, Buster met Sheri Rennewanz, and they were married in 1993.
Buster's entire life was spent dedicated to working at the job he loved in the place he loved. He wished to be remembered for always doing the best job he could for everyone he worked for. Buster was an amazing husband, a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Buster was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Douglas.
He is survived by: his wife Sheri; three sons—Cody (Diana) Brown of Dillon, Mark (Brenda) Brown of Challis, ID, and PJ Brown of Dillon; and daughter Kolene Brown of Woodridge, CO; stepson Michael(Jennifer) Coad of Bozeman; and stepdaughter Chandra Tourtelot of Richmond, VA. Buster is also survived by his siblings—Baxter (Anita) Brown of Dillon, Benny (Sharon) Brown of Dillon, Elizabeth (Robert) Krattiger of Great Falls, and Tom (Pat) Brown of Westminster, CO—and his grandchildren—Dustin and Courtney Brown; Kelsey Brown and Crystal Riddle; Kassidy Brown; Saxon and Tara McFarland; along with his step-grandchildren—Garrett and Kendall Coad; and Treysen and Chelsey Tourtelot, as well as great- grandchildren Stone Brown and Jordan Martinez.
