Leah Joan Stanford
1958 - 2010

Leah Joan Stanford died Feb. 25, from natural causes at her home, outside of Dell.
She was born Aug. 19, 1958 at home, to Vernon and Eva Stanford (Gordon.) She was the youngest of four children and attended school at Glen. Leah received a Degree in education from Western Montana College, but returned to the family ranch at Dell and spent the rest of her life as a rancher.
Leah and her parents moved to the Dell ranch in 1969 and were good friends and neighbors. She was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and many will fondly remember the wonderful meals that Leah and her mother prepared. She believed in western hospitality, and everyone who came to the ranch felt welcome.
All who knew Leah benefited from her down to earth approach to life. She was a true steward of the land and was always willing to share her knowledge of plants and animals, and she left the world a better place than she found it. Her life revolved around her cattle and her two favorite times of the year were trailing the cows to Snowline in the spring and bringing them home in the fall.
Leah is survived by sisters, Judy Reid (Ed Lingo), Great Falls, and Jill Johnson (Ralph), Sitka, AK.; nieces, Sally Reid, Great Falls, Amy (Phil) Jacobson, Mary (Michael); nephew John Johnson; grandnieces, Jill and Quinn; grandnephews, Darrin, Michael, Scott and Tye, all of Fairbanks, Alaska.; cousins, Peggy Dean, Bonnie Dean, Pat Tantlinger; and friends Raul Robinson, Bill Hartwig and Jackie Gout. Over the years, Leah had many faithful dogs, and it is hard to think of her without picturing Danny, Tom, Sassy or Tuffy by her side.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Bill.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the Brundage Funeral Home. A reception followed at the Dell Community Center. The family suggests memorials be made to the Dell Volunteer Fire Dept. A guest book is available on line at www.brundagefuneralhome.com.
