JoAnn Nugent
1937 - 2011

JoAnn Nugent, 73, beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away at her daughter’s home in Dillon on Saturday, April 16, after a five-year battle with breast cancer.
JoAnn was born Nov. 5, 1937, in Frankfort, Ind., to Marie and Lawrence “Jim” Reagan. She began her life on her parent’s farm outside Frankfort. The family later moved to Oroville, Calif., when Jim went to work for the Feather River Dam Project.
She was married to Edmund Lee Nugent, July 9, 1955, shortly after graduating from Oroville High School. After Lee finished his degree in mining engineering, he went to work for Pathfinder Mines, which first took them to New Mexico, and then to Cedar City, Utah, where all three of their children were born. The family later moved to California and then Wyoming as a result of Lee’s work with Pathfinder.
They were divorced December 1981, at which time JoAnn moved herself and the two younger children to the Seattle area in Washington state, where her eldest daughter was attending the University of Washington. She lived and worked in the Seattle area for 20 years, where first she sold real estate and then went to work in the accounting field. She moved to Fort Collins, Colo., in 2010, to be with her youngest daughter and grandson, where she continued to work in accounting until she retired in 2007.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, which went into remission after surgery and treatment, and then returned in 2009. The cancer again went into remission after additional surgery and treatment, only to return again after a fall that fractured her hip in July, 2010. JoAnn came to stay in Dillon with her youngest daughter in December 2010, where she lost her courageous battle, but did so on her own terms.
Her family will dearly miss her, but JoAnn has gone on to be with the Lord, which brings great comfort to those she left behind for they will see her again someday, her body whole and strong, and no longer in pain.
Her father and mother, Jim and Marie Reagan; older brother, Larry Reagan; and younger sister, Jeannie Baker, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Nugent, Colorado Springs, Colo; her son, Erik Nugent, Missoula; her daughter, Kathy Nugent, Dillon; her five grandchildren, Craig Nugent, Phillip Baker, Brandon, Tiffany and Alex Nugent; her two younger brothers, Richard and Jack Reagan of Vancouver and Sequim, Wash.; and numerous other family and friends.
JoAnn has been cremated, and her remains returned to her grandson, Craig, for a private memorial in Colorado.
Memorial services were held in Dillon on Saturday, April 23, at 1 p.m., at Brundage Funeral Home, with reception following at the First Presbyterian Church.
Donations can be made to the Barrett Hospital Foundation, Barrett Home Health and Hospice, or the Susan B. Komen Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Eugene Edward Stewart
1945 - 2011

Eugene “Gene” Edward Stewart passed away on March 31 from natural causes.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Leila Stewart, and brother William “Bill” Stewart.
He is survived by his brother, Robert “Bob” Stewart; sister, Iris Hubbard; children, Jamie, Eugene “Geno” and Lisa Stewart; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and others he considered his children.
Gene, born in Hamilton on Sept. 9, 1945, and was a long time Hamilton resident until he moved to Dillon many years ago.
He was an honored Vietnam veteran who was most well known for his little green Jeep which so proudly carried General Womack and others in each Labor Day parade. To his family he was known as a proud man, tough but loving, and protective.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend, who loved his country, family and his pets, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His wish was that his family and friends would get together one final time in honor of his service, and that of many others, to our country as well as the memory of his life. He asked that we not mourn but remember and share all the memories we hold.
A service will be held at 3 p.m. on April 30, at Barretts Park in remembrance of Gene Stewart. We invite all friends and family to join us for a potluck and final toast as we say goodbye.
