Doris Mae Zahn

1928 - 2010

Our loving mother passed away May 18 in Dillon after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a young 82.

She was born Doris Mae Campbell in Pingree, Idaho, to Robert Campbell and Thelma Peterson Campbell on Jan. 17, 1928.

She lived in Pingree throughout her school years, helping her parents on the family farm, milking the cows before school, doing her homework by candle light, and listening to her Father tell stories as they would take walks. These were all things she often talked about and treasured.

It was there in Pingree where she met our father, Joseph Thomas Zahn. They were married in 1945, and together raised 6 boys and 1 girl. They lived most of their 52 years together in Blackfoot, Idaho, then later moving to Florence.

She enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, oil painting, gardening, cooking, sewing and quilting; but most of all she enjoyed being with her family.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Joseph Zahn; two sons, Eddie Dean Zahn, Butte, and James Paul Zahn, Florence.

She is survived by four sons, Terry Zahn, Cut Bank, Mike Zahn, Post Falls Idaho, Robert (Barbara) Zahn, Kennewick Wash., Rodney Zahn, Dillon; one daughter, Sarina (Casey) Holliday, Dillon; one sister, Ruby Gojenola, Yakima, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.

Services were held Monday, May 24, in Florence, with a viewing at 11 a.m. at the Florence Baptist church, followed by a graveside service at the Florence-Carlton Cemetery at 12 noon.

Colonel Davies

Colonel Lawrence Emmet Davies, 74, of Dillon, passed away on Dec. 26, 2009.

He was born in Santa Monica, Calif. on Dec. 14, 1935, to Lawrence and Helen Davies.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 28 at the First Presbyterian Church, at 10:30 a.m., with military honors provided by American Legion Post #20, and Marines from I & I, Billings.
