Anna Faye Bacon

1918 - 2010

Anna Faye Bacon died peacefully on Aug.26 at Barrett Memorial Hospital. She was looking forward to being with her Lord and Savior and also with other loved ones who went before her.
She was the tenth child born to Weldon and Annie Else. She spent her childhood years on the North Fork of the Big Hole River near Wisdom, and attended Gibbons School.
She married Herbert “Bert” Bacon on July 10, 1939, and they spent a short time in the Missoula area, then moved to Fishtrap where they managed and worked their own ranch.
They had six children, Jeanne, Mary, Ellen, Bruce, Rosalie, and Dennis.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Weldon and Annie Else; her husband, Bert; sisters, Marguerette, Hazel, Ethel, Nettie, Mabel and Grace; brothers: George, Fred and Lester; daughters, Jeanne and Rosalie.
Survivors include one sister, Lucy Old; sons, Bruce and Dennis; daughters, Mary and Ellen; grandchildren, Corinne George, Yvonne Brown, Jeannette Eva, Mark Marchesseault, Wade Bacon, Brad Bacon, Tom Bacon, Dennis J. Bacon and Alan Bacon; fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brundage Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held today, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m., at the Church of the Big Hole in Wisdom. A potluck reception will follow committal services at the Wisdom Community Center.

Daniel Bernard McGinley

1926 - 2010

Daniel Bernard “Pappy” McGinley passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, in Dillon, with his family gathered at his bedside. Pappy was born Oct. 7, 1926, at the home ranch near Lisco, Neb. He was the second of eight children born to John and Gertrude (Meade) McGinley.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, and his sister Aileen, age 12.
Pappy graduated from high school at St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, Neb. He served during World War II as a United States Army paratrooper, and later attended New Mexico A&M in Las Cruces.
Pappy married the love of his life, Joyce Ellen Minnick, on Dec. 29, 1951, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Alliance. They shared 59 years together.
Pappy and Joyce began their life together on the ranch in Nebraska, later moving to Pierre, S. D., and Wise River, before moving to Dillon in 1969.
Pappy was fiercely proud of his 12 children, 35 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pappy is survived by his wife Joyce; all 12 children, Sally Miles (Mike), Tucson, Ariz.; Case McGinley (Gail), Houston, Tex.; Ed McGinley, Ft. Worth, Tex.; Mike McGinley (Colette), Dillon; Ron McGinley, Gillette, Wyo.; Colleen McGinley, Dillon; John McGinley (Rhonda), Dillon; Kate West “Kitty” (Randy), Sitka, Alaska; Mark “MJ” (Elizabeth), Helena; Jess McGinley (Wyndy), Emmet, Idaho; Shawn McGinley (Kami), Belgrade; and Margie (Jim) Larson, Billings.
Many remember Pappy as a businessman who owned and operated “Pappy’s Meat Market,” but he always remained a cowboy at heart, born and raised in the sand-hills of western Nebraska.
To his children, and his grandchildren, Pappy was larger than life, ornery and mischievous, both tough and compassionate. He was not perfect, but he was always honest, honorable and sincere in all that he did. He was larger than life, and his departure leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.
Pappy laughed easily, and often, with a warm and engaging sense of humor. He was also a soft touch, and his eyes would often well up, in both good times and in bad. He loved people, and he loved the world around him.
A Rosary service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., at St Rose Catholic Church in Dillon.
Funeral services will be held at 12:10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3. Pappy will be buried with his family in Lisco, Nebraska.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
A guest book is available on-line at www.brundagefuneralhome.com.
