Dorothy Marie Taylor

1918 - 2010

Dorothy Marie Beswick Taylor, born April 27, 1918 in Chilhowie, passed away at Parkview Acres Care and Rehabilitation Center March 22.
She graduated in May 1936 from Billings High School. She married Gordon E. Taylor that same month, and the only child born to them was Winona Ruth Taylor on Feb. 25, 1937.
She worked as a waitress at the Log Cabin Café on Montana Avenue in Billings at night while attending Billings Business College learning secretarial skills during the day in 1939 and 1940.
When World War II started, she was chosen from applicants to be a stenographer in Washington D.C., working from 1942 to 1946. She returned to Billings in the summer of 1946, and went to work again for the government in 1947 with the Agriculturel Department, ending her 35 years of service in the Indian Health Department in 1984.
Dorothy loved to sew, crochet, and was an avid crossword puzzler.
She loved the summertime, gardening, yard work, camping, fishing, lilacs, tulips, roses, irises, music and dancing.
She started piano lessons at six years of age. It was only in the last year that she was unable to play but still loved music.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, grandparents and parents; sister, Juanita (Skeets) Pearl (Duane)V. Hamers; brother, Roy Beswick; aunts and uncles; sister-in-law, Florence Taylor Stevens; grand-daughter, Willo Ann Obenauer.
She is survived by her daughter, Winona R. Taylor Achten; grandchildren, Christian Philip (Patricia) Obenauer, Jody (Gene) Lewandowski,Christina (Dan) Cramer, Gino, Luke, Richard, Shawnda, Shara, Heaven, Leigh Marie Obenauer, Trina (Josh) Barcomb, Tricia, Christian, Evelyn, Helena, William Robert, Randy Allan (Teresa) Obenauer, Brandi (Jason) Brown, Casandra Brendan, Vanessa, Kiera, Michael Obenauer, Jake (Holly) Obenauer, Tyson, Dana Lynn (Roy) Cisneros, Leonard and Daniel Barraugh, Corey Malcolm (Christine) Obenauer, Brian, Tera, Trinity Kiera, Klien, Zephania, and Kayli.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 26, 10:30 a.m., at Brundage Funeral Home with burial services Monday, March 29, at Sunset Memorial in Billings.
In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parkview Acres and Rehabilitation to the activities department.



Andrew J. “A.J.” Brooks

1983 - 2010

Andrew J. “A.J.” Brooks, Rapid City and formerly of Wyoming, died at his home Thursday, March 18.
A.J. was born Nov. 13, 1983, in Douglas, Wyo., to Donald and Norene (Townsend) Brooks. He spent his early years of education in Worland, Wyo., and graduated from high school in Glendo, Wyo., in 2002.
After high school, A.J. helped to set the anchors by doing the diving at Glendo Marina. He moved to the Rapid City area, and attended the Job Corps for welding. He was working at various jobs throughout the area at the time of his death.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, online cribbage, fishing, camping, and spending time with his dog, Callie.
He is survived by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Joe (Elizabeth) Brooks, Alliance, Neb., and Colton Paul Carlin, Havre; sisters, Korsika Lynn and Kia Jean Carlin, Deer Lodge; grandparents, Howard H. Brooks, Ft. Laramie, Wyo., Bob and Betty Townsend, Newcastle, Wyo., Evelyn Todorovich, Torrington, Wyo., Twig and Dena Carlin, Dillon, and Trudy Carlin, Tularosa, N.M.; uncles, Lee and Seth Carlin, Dillon, Todd (Nancy) Carlin, Tularosa, N.M.; aunt, Amanda Carlin, Dillon; four nephews, five nieces, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donny Shorty Brooks; grandmother, Rusty Brooks; and grandfather, Charles Garhart.
A memorial service was held March 23, 2 p.m., at the Community Church, Ft. Laramie, Wyo., with Pastor Jane Bussy officiating.
A memorial has been established.
