Emery C.E. Smith  

1941-2012


Emery C.E. Smith, 70, of Dillon passed away on Sept. 12, 2012.  He was born Sept. 18, 1941 in Butte to Dora Nelson Smith and Emery Keller Smith.
He graduated from Beaverhead County High School.  Following graduation he joined the Air Force as a weapons mechanic.  After serving he came home and attended Western Montana College.  He graduated with a teaching degree in Math/Business.  He taught in Gardiner, MT for one year before taking his job at the Madison County Welfare Department.  He married Sharon Nyhart in 1966.
 They were later divorced in 1981.  They had three children, Heidi, Chad and Brian.
He worked at the Madison County Welfare department  for 30 years, many of those as director.  Author  Buck Brannaman exemplified him for this work in his book The Far Away Horses.  He also served as the Twin Bridges Mayor, and held an office on the Twin Bridges School Board.
In 1981 he married Sally Williams Coad.  They have been happily married for 31 years.  He retired in 1997.  They officially became “Snow Birds” and retain another close group of friends in Mesa, AZ.
After retiring, golf became his passion, along with playing cards and woodworking.  He was a sports fanatic enjoying watching all types of sports.
 He belonged to the Beaverhead Golf Club and was a member of the Dillon Elks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law, Ruth Clemow Smith, and niece Tracy Smith Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Smith.  His brother, Don Smith. His children, Heidi (Bill )Woods, Chad Smith, Brian (Claire)Smith  and grandchildren, Taylor and Evan Smith.  His step-children, Carrie(Marvin)Rowley, Karla(Lance)Fiscus.  His step-grandchildren, Kyle McAlpine and Kaylyn Fiscus.  Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to Dr, McIntyre, and the staff at Barrett Hospital and Hospice.

Judy Parks  

1949-2012


Judy Parks died Thursday September 13, 2012 after an extended illness.
Judy was born March 29, 1949, in Dillon, Montana to Carl and Shirley Knox. Judy grew up on a ranch, graduating from high school in Lima, Montana, and attended University of Montana.  On October 19, 1968, Judy married Ron Parks in Santa Monica, California, and together, they raised two daughters.
In 1979 Ron and Judy move their family to Meridian, Idaho, and Judy began her career working with children, first with an in-home daycare and then as cafeteria manager at Linder Elementary in Meridian for 15 years.
Judy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Even in her worst days she always wanted to help others.
Judy leaves behind her husband Ron; daughters Christy (David) and Michelle (Brett); grandchildren Robbie (Melissa), Cody and Kaylee and great grandchild, Gage, all of Meridian; parents, Carl and Shirley of  Lima.;  sisters Tana (Dan) of Cody, WY and Polly (Kurt) of Nampa, ID; brother; Bill (Cathey) of Dillon; brother-in-law  Jim of Dell; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister Karla.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Accent Funeral Home, 1303 N. Main, Meridian. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 19 at 2 p.m. at Meridian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Boise Ronald McDonald House or your favorite charity in Judy’s name.
