Allen E. Walton

1931-2012


Allen E. Walton, 80, of Billings, passed away on Thursday morning, July 12, 2012, at St. Vincent Healthcare, due to complications from pneumonia.
Allen was born to Clarence and Lurlene Walton in Bozeman on Dec. 22, 1931, and was raised on a ranch at the foot of the Crazy Mountains in Wilsall. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture education in 1954, and a master’s degree in agriculture education in 1964.
After graduating, Allen taught vocational agriculture education at Beaverhead County High School for 12 years. He was also the advisor for the FFA Chapter and managed the Beaverhead County Fair for several years.
Allen met his wife, the former Jean Staudenmeyer, in Dillon. They were married in August of 1957 and had two sons, Scott and Brent.
During his career, Allen worked as an assistant secretary for the Montana Stock Growers Association. He then managed the Northern International Livestock Exposition for 14 years before spending the remainder of his working years as regional manager for the North American Salt Company. He retired in 1996.
Allen was active in many organizations and achieved many leadership roles, including President of the local Jaycees in Dillon, Vice President of the Montana Jaycees, President of the Montana Vocational Agricultural Association, President of the Billings Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee. He was also involved in Kiwanis and served on many boards, including the church council. Allen also became active in establishing the Montana Chapter of the National Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his late wife, the former Jean Staudenmeyer, who passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2003.
Allen is survived by  his two sons, Scott (Penny) of Collinsville, TX and Brent (Mary Ellen) of Seattle, WA; his sister, Ruth Clabaugh; and his grandsons, Logan, Mitchell and Cutter.

The casket was open for visitation Sunday, July 15, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 16, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lewis Avenue and 24th Street West. Interment was held Tuesday, July 17, in Dillon.

Lowell Lee Mallon

1922-2012


Memorial services were held Tuesday at Brundage Funeral Home for Lowell Lee Mallon, 89, who died July 12 at Barrett Hospital and HealthCare. He was born July 13, 1922. He is survived by widow, Dolores; sons Larry and Jerry Mallon both of Dillon; daughters Linda Ferguson, Tumwater, Wash., April Bordelon, Dillon, and Julie Phelps, Bremerton, Wash.; seven grandchildren and six great-grand-children.
