obituary for Bergh

Quentin Bergh

1919 - 2010

Quentin (Quent) Bergh passed away peacefully on July 6 after a brief illness at Barrett Memorial Hospital.

Born March 19, 1919, in Redstone, he grew up on the family homestead there. Before he was 15 his brother Vince (deceased), and Quent, took over the family farm.

He worked in the C.C.C. in 1935 at Hungry Horse Dam area, and in 1936 at Fort Peck as a waiter. He was attending college in Miles City, studying pre-chemical engineering, when World War II began. He enlisted in the Navy, and became a pilot. He survived three PBY plane crashes.

He married Beatrice Boileau on March 27, 1943 in Seattle. After World War II they returned to eastern Montana where they raised three children on a small farm near Redstone. He loved his beefalo, his wheat fields, and his pet pheasants.

Quent and Bee moved to Dillon over four years ago to Parkview Acres Nursing Home. Bee passed away in Sept. 2009.

Quent is survived by two sons, Ramon (Lorrene) Bergh, Havre, and Lyle (Padgett) Bergh, Belgrade; a daughter, Lauranne (Dennis Hatfield) Bergh, Dillon; three grandsons, two step-grandsons, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date in Helena at Fort Harrison. Quent will have an Honor Guard present.

Quent finally finished that last hot cup of coffee, and was ready for another cup.
