Frederick “Jack” Hirschy  

1921-2012


On August 22, 2012, John Frederick “Jack” Hirschy , 91 of Jackson, Montana passed away at Barrett Hospital of natural causes. Jack was born on April 25, 1921 to Frederick and Flora (Shaw) Hirschy in Butte, Montana. He was married to Ann Carl in Salmon, Idaho on a blustery winter day, January 1, 1944.  They had been married almost 63 years when Ann passed away in 2006.
He is survived by his two children Jann (Gene) Potter of Twin Bridges, and Frederick Carl (Lynn) Hirschy of Jackson.  Grandchildren, Carly Jay Anderson, J. Blaine Anderson,III (Jabe), Jaclyn Dawn Hirschy (Murphy), Brook Leigh Hirschy, and Cate Lynn Hirschy; sister, Joyce McDowell; brother-in-law John Eliel and sister-in-law Margy Hirschy.
Jack was a Master Mason, the longest standing member of the Bagdad Shrine, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of the Montana Stock Growers Association. He was a trustee of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City as well as on the Board of Directors for the Metals Bank of Butte and State Bank of Dillon. He was a rancher his whole life, and proud of the fact that the ranch had been in the family since it was homesteaded in 1894.
Masonic graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 29 at the Wisdom Cemetery at 2 p.m.
A time to share memories will follow the services at the Masonic Lodge in Wisdom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99204, the Masonic Lodge #61 in Wisdom or a charity of the donor’s choice. Russell Ernest Mommer, 96


Russell Ernest Mommer, 96 of Sheridan, passed away on Aug. 23 at Tobacco Root Mountain Care Center.  He was born on Feb. 26, 1916 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Harry and Ada (Frost) Mommer.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Hope Mommer of Sheridan; a son, John Mommer of Dike, IA; daughters Billielee Mommer of Wimberly, TX and Jill (Reardon) Fisher of Cedar Falls, IA; step-children Bill ;Cushman of Missoula and Tana Gornick of Bigfork; brother Charles Mommer of Lyonn, NY, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mommer’s cremated remains will be interred with military honors in the Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cedar Falls, IA.
