Michael Brian Alley

1959-2012

Michael Brian Alley of Butte Montana and former co-owner of the Hotel Metlen in Dillon died Friday, June 15, 2012 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Dorothy and Kenneth on July 5, 1959.  Mike was an accomplished wood carver and carpenter.  After his mother, Dorothy, bought the Hotel Metlen in 1979, Mike devoted much of his time to the preservation and restoration of the historic landmark in Dillon; and continued his creative endeavors after his mother's death.  Mike served four years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany as a Radar Specialist.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his loving son Brain Michael Alley of Butte;  Brian's family, Robyn and Xzavier; his sister, Sandra Iverson of Dillon; his adopted sister, Ann Bowman of Bark Point, Wisconsin and Phylly Saxon of Sheridan, MT;  the Spencer family; and his faithful dog, Bandit.
Mike wished for his ashes to be freed at his favorite high mountain lake.  His family will host a memorial gathering Saturday, June 23 beginning at 2 p.m. for  his friends and family at the Hotel Metlen's Back Bar, one of Mike's favorite projects.  All are welcome.
His family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate assistance of Highland Hospice of Butte, Montana.  In lieu of flowers, please contribute any remembrances to the Beaverhead Humane Society in Dillon, Montana.
