Nancy Sue Lane
1944 - 2011

Nancy Sue Lane, 67, of Dillon, joined her Savior in heaven, Friday, Sept. 30, surrounded by her family.
She will be very sorely missed by family and many friends, until we meet again.
Nancy was born in Bismarck, N.D., April 4, 1944, the third daughter of Bess and Buss Nelson.
The family moved to Great Falls, where the girls grew up and attended school.
Nancy was married to Paul Laird in 1966, and remarried to James Lane in 1992. Jim and Nancy celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28 of this year.
Nancy worked in technical support for Fluor Corporation in Irvine, Calif., for many years, and moved with Jim to Dillon upon retirement. She created and ran a successful online business which she very much enjoyed.
She loved camping, antiquing, quilting, painting, sewing, spoiling her family, and her beloved pets.
Nancy adored her husband and family, and was blessed with many good friends.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Chad (Elizabeth), Holly and Sally Laird; five grandchildren, Ian, Abby, Hazel, Johnny and Aubrey; and sisters, Ginny and Rene (Swede).
She was preceded in death by her dear parents and many other precious loved ones.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery.

John W. Carr
1920 - 2011

John W. Carr, 91, of Medford, Ore., passed away Monday, Sept. 26.
He was born May 12, 1920, in Dell, to Emma (Hardgrove) Carr and Frank M. Carr.
He graduated from Beaverhead County High School, and from the University of Washington, Seattle, Wash.
John married Evelyn “Jackie” (Meine) Carr on June 15, 1943, in Seattle, Wash. They moved to Medford in 1967.
John served in the Marine Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. He was stationed in Saipan.
John owned Carr’s City Fuel, and was a retired motel owner and consultant.
He loved fishing, traveling, videotaping his grandkids, and taking long walks.
John and Evelyn both enjoyed dancing and listening to big band music.
He was a member of the SAE Fraternity, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, Lively Rogues Dancing Club, and the American Legion.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn; daughters, Janet (John) Connole, Joan (John) Jackson, and Jennifer (Bob) Johnson; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anne Peters, Gladys Walker and Francis Virts; and brother, Fred Carr.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 4 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Herbert Pins officiating.
