Sibley Edward Hanson
1930 - 2010

Sibley Edward Hanson passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 12:30 p.m. He was 80 years old.
Sib was born to Edward Theodore and Anna Mary Hanson on Jan. 11, 1930, in Wolf Point. His family had a farm, and he grew up and graduated from high school there. After high school, Sib joined the Navy and was a secretary stationed at Quadjalene in Korea during the Korean War.
He met Shirley Mae Chapman in 1952 while he was in Hawaii. On June 21, 1953, they were married.
For awhile they lived in Wolf Point, and on Dec. 1, 1954, they had a son. Then they moved to Havre so Sib could go to college. While in Havre, there was another boy born to them on June 24, 1956. Sib and Shirley went back to Wolf Point after awhile. They were blessed with another son on June 21, 1958, which also was their wedding anniversary.
In 1964 the family moved to Columbia Falls, and lived there until spring of 1972. Sib worked for Stolze Lumber Company while living in Columbia Falls. Then in 1972 he was transferred to the Stolze mill in Dillon.
Sib and Shirley lived in Dillon from 1972 to 2007. Because of a stroke, Sib lived at the Village Health Care Center in Missoula from August 2007 to Feb. 17.
Sibley is survived by his wife of 57 years; three sons, Fredric Edward Hanson, Missoula, David Duane (Terri) Hanson, Scottsdale Ariz., and Michael Thomas (Christina) Hanson, Missoula; four grandchildren, Kristina, Jonathan, Daniel, and Michael, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two step-granddaughters, Carol Lynn Nina and Paulina Danielle Roberts, Missoula; one step-great granddaughter, Christina Agnes Roberts, Missoula; four brothers, Vern, Dorence, Harvey, and Arnold; and two sisters, Helen and Goldie.
Preceding him in death were his parents, all of his aunts and uncles, and one nephew.
Services will be held this spring in Missoula at the Veterans Cemetery. At Sib’s request cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion Lodge in Dillon, Village Health Care Center in Missoula, or charity of the donor’s choice.



Frank Jadrny
1949 - 2010

Frank Jadrny passed away suddenly of natural causes on March 7 at his home in Dillon.
He was born in Oregon on June 3, 1949. He and his wife Debbi (Deason) of 40 years raised two children in LaPine, Oregon. Frank and Debbi moved to Dillon in 2005.
He is survived by his wife; son Kenneth (Buzz) (Candice) Jadrny, LaPine, Ore.; daughter Francine (Kyle) Nye, Charleston, Miss.; two grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; brother, Ron (Sharon) Krettinger, Burns, Ore.; and sister, DeeAnn (Steve) Lewis, Gresham, Ore.
At Franks request, there will be no services and private burial will take place.

Beatrice Stewart
1940 - 2010

Beatrice (Duke) Stewart, 69, Dillon, passed away quietly with family by her side on March 14.
Beatrice was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Great Falls. Bea and Marv Stewart married, Jan, 28, 1956, and had 54 wonderful years.
Beatrice was a doer. Throughout her life she has worn many different hats. She helped ranch in Cameron, owned and managed the Beehive Hallmark gift shop in Bozeman, moved to Dillon to help Marv run Marv’s OK tire in Dillon, Stewart’s Tire in Pocatello, Idaho and Snake River Tire in Twin Falls, Idaho.
She was generous and had a heart of gold. Beatrice was a wonderful and loving mother and wife.
She is survived in life by her husband; children, Debbie (Don) Grayson, Dillon, Miles (Tawnya) Stewart, Twin Falls, Idaho; Kassie (Danny) Wilson, Boise, Idaho; sister, Charlotte Rosen and pal Squirt; grandchildren, Charlie (Tammy) Harrison, Shawn (Angela) Harrison, Sharde’ Bement, Journee Stewart, Weston (Cammi) Morrison, Tawni (Trenton) Vaird; and many great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation Thursday, March 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Brundage Funeral Home, with services on Friday, March 19, 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Western Montana College Rodeo Club, Dillon Elks Lodge, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Jeanette Sallee
1935 - 2010

Jeanette (Watkins) Sallee passed away peacefully in her home in Grover Beach, Calif., Friday, March 5.
She was born May 20, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Frank and Harriett Watkins. She grew up in Dillon, and later moved to California.
She was a loving wife and mother; and enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, ballroom dancing, golfing and traveling.
She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, M.M. Sallee, Grover Beach, Calif.; her mother, Dillon; four children, Nanette (David) Hiles, Cochranton, Pa., Tim (Lynn) Scott, Tustin, Calif., Leann (Arthur) Fallow, Yorba Linda, Calif., and Maureen (Brian) Guffey, Paulden, Ariz.; two step-children, Mandee (Wayne) Kenitz, Pismo Beach, Calif., and David (Cece) Sallee, Pahrump, Nev.; brothers, Frank (Joan), Basin, and Jim (Theola), Dillon; sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
A memorial celebrating her life is planned for July in Dillon. Contributions may be made in memory to the Alzheimer's Association.



Joseph Orr Holt
1944 - 2010

Joseph Orr Holt was born Nov. 6, 1944 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and passed away at Fort Harrison, March 5, due to complications of surgery.
Joe was the son of George Tinsley and Mary Beatrice (Shanholtzer) Holt. He joined sister Lily Mabel at the family ranch in Alaska Basin, Centennial Valley. Another sister, Mary Beatrice, joined the family in August 1946. Due to George’s poor health, they moved to Stevensville. Another son, George Tinsley, was born in Missoula, September 1948. George Holt, Sr., passed away at the family farm in 1951.
The family moved to Dillon, and Joe attended Dillon schools from the third grade through high school. Bea married Lynn Nye, a friend from Centennial Valley in 1953. the family spent several delightful summers at the Deep Creek Cow Camp in the Lima Peaks.
Joe graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1962. He attended Western Montana College on a football scholarship in the 1960’s. Some of his fondest memories were of playing football. Several summers were spent working for the Red Rock Lakes Wildlife Refuge in Centennial Valley. His mother passed away in 1967 followed by his stepfather who passed away in Banning, Calif., in 1976.
Joe joined the Marines and served in Vietnam. He was very proud of being a Marine. Shortly after his return he married Shirley Mae Glenn in Bonsell, Calif., Dec. 5, 1969. Joe adopted her three daughters, Nancy, Lelia and Terri. The family moved to Glen where Joe worked for Hagenbarth Livestock. Joe also returned to college and got his bachelor’s in secondary education. On March 20, 1971, son Joseph Edwin was born in Dillon. The Holt family later moved to Clements, Calif. Joe moved back to Montana after their divorce in 1980.
Joe married Linda Marie Mulloy June 14, 1986 in Ririe, Idaho. They lived in Idaho before returning to Montana. This family included four daughters and one son.
Joe loved horses, children, and Montana. He also enjoyed music and was a good dancer. He could build a strong fence, but because of his bad heart, Joe had to quit ranchwork. Joe and Linda settled in Lima. While he was able, he enjoyed attending the Lima Community Church, and singing an occasional special.
Joe is survived by his wife; daughters, Nancy, Lelia, and Terri, Calif.; Tracy(Mike)Wehe, Ucon, Idaho; Shawna (Terry) Keating, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Lisa (David) Ferguson, Shelley, Idaho; Alinda Martindale, Lima; and sons, Joseph (Jed) and Edwin (Jill), Tollhouse, Calif., and George Martindale, Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Joey, Kenny, Kyle, Melissa, Calif.; Travis (Karlee) Byington, Brandon, Tasha, and Tanner Dugan-Nelson; Jennifer Collette, Cherla (Jerry) Randall, Terry Keating; Anna and McKenzie Ferguson; Whitney, Joseph, Christina, and Ramsey Martindale; Jessica and Jaidyn Holt; great-grandchildren, Oakley Byington, Jeremy and Liberty Collette, Emma Randall, and two more that are on the way.
Joe Holt is survived by sisters, Lily Riley and Mary (Robert) Holt, Dillon; brother George Holt, Dillon; sister-in-law LaRue (Bob) Dodge, Ririe, Idaho; and numerous nephews and one niece, and numerous great-nephews and -nieces.



Shirley Jeanette Cooper
1948 - 2010

Shirley Jeanette (Rebich) Cooper passed away in her home, in Kent, Wash., on March 5.
Shirley was born Dec. 27, 1948, in Dillon, to Jim and Marie Rebich. She grew up on the family ranch her grandfather purchased in 1901, six miles south of Dillon.
Shirley attended the one room Riverside School, two miles from her home. She graduated from Beaverhead County High School in 1967. She attended flight attendant school, and accepted a job with the FBI in Washington, D.C., for a period of time.
Later she moved to Portland, Ore., where she met Arlie Cooper. They were married on Sept. 19, 1969, and celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2009.
Shirley is survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law, Leonnie and Tom Stewart; granddaughters, Kaleigh, Heather and Sarah; and grandsons, Kyle, David, and Nicholas, all of Washington; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tom Rice, Dillon; nephews, Nolan Rice and Beth Lehman of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mike, Kara, Jake and Madison Rice of East Helena; and her husband’s extended family.
Shirley was a truly loving person, and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 16, 7 p.m., at Marlatt Funeral Home, Kent, Wash. Graveside Services are to follow in Dillon at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor.



Richard Daniel Eudaily

Memorial services for Richard Daniel Eudaily are scheduled for Thursday, March 18, 11 a.m., at Brundage Funeral Home.
Interment of cremated remains will follow services at Mountain View Cemetery.

Ronald O. Jensen
1936 - 2010

Ronald O. Jensen’s courageous battle with colon cancer ended Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, ID. He was 73.
Ron was born August 13, 1936, to Clarence and Mamie Jensen in Lima. He grew up in the Red Rock area where he attended elementary school.
Ron graduated from Beaverhead County High School. While in school, Ron began his love of woodworking that he carried throughout his life. Most prized were the grandfather clocks he made for his four children. One of Ron’s favorite pastimes as a young man was hunting and fishing.
Ron learned his strong work ethic by beginning as a ranch hand in the Big Hole. He moved to the tri-cities where he co-owned a beverage business.
In 1973, Ron was employed by the DeAtley Corporation as a truck driver. It was during a job assignment in Pierce that he met his wife, Dee Carlson Derrick.
Ron and Dee enjoyed traveling and being around family and friends during their 37 years of marriage. Ron worked with, and managed, Atlas Sand and Rock for the DeAtley Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 2008.
Ron served on the board of the Idaho State Trucking Association, IMTA, and also was a 50-year member of the Elks Lodge.
He joined the Lewiston Roundup Association in 1991, and served as president in 1999. During this time his drive was to make the grounds better, and to make it a place that the community could be proud of. In 2002, Ron retired from the Roundup Association. This past year Ron served as the grand marshall at the 75th Lewiston Roundup.
Although Ron worked hard, friends were an essential part of his life. He found special enjoyment in meeting with friends over a good lunch, and discussing the news of the day. This became especially important to him as he fought his battle with cancer.
Ron is survived by his wife; sister Viola Hall (Melvin), Menan, Idaho; daughters, Kelly Torske (Jim), Hardin, and Dena Thornton (Rich), Spokane, Wash.; sons, Bill Jensen (Paula), Twin Falls, Idaho, and Ken Derrick (Tammy), Battleground, Wash.; eleven grandchildren, Cary Jensen, Casey Jensen, Cody Jensen, Katrina Sands, Erica Sebring, Thor Torske, Bergen Muzatko, Julie Garza, Bryan Thornton, Chris Derrick and Trevor Derrick.
Ron delighted in his 11 great-grandchildren, and was surprised by the birth of Audrey Jensen on his birthday.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A private family memorial was conducted at Mountain View Funeral Home, Lewiston, Dec. 20. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held March 20, at the Elks Lodge, Lewiston, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., to remember and share fond memories of Ron.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society.




LaReeta Crossley Macioroski
1921 - 2010

Birch Creek pioneer and Melrose resident, LaReeta Crossley Macioroski, died Montay, March 1, at Barrett Hospital.
She was born July 28, 1921, Dillon, the second twin to Alton T. Crossley and Tru Tillie (Craft) Crossley.
She married Albert R. Macioroski Dec. 7, 1950, in Butte, and together they had three children, Francis Joseph, Effie Adele, and Robert Albert.
LaReeta worked as a cook on the Garrison Ranch, as a pea sorter for Cleavers, and planted trees for the forest service. She enjoyed music and loved to entertain everyone with her accordion and piano.
Her music book was filled with songs and poems for everyone to hear, a favorite poem on the front cover of her music book depicts the kindness and love she shared with others. “If all the love that's left untold were broadcast far and near, there would not be a hungry heart not yet a single tear. If all the kind words left unsaid were scattered on the air, this world would be a smiling place with Heaven everywhere.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twin sister LaVeeta Carlock, sister Tru Kopsas, brother William Henry Crossley, and grandson Terry Clark.
She is survived by her son Francis Joseph (Lynette) Macioroski, Dillon; Effie Adele Macioroski, Shelby; and Robert Albert (Charlene) Macioroski, Butte; brother Alton T. (Evelyn) Crossley, Butte; grandchildren Charlene (Andy) Walker, Washington; Carrie (Harold) Mitton, Helena; and Amanda Clark, Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren Hailey, Brandon, Jonathan, Kylee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her remains were cremated in Butte, and a private memorial service in memory of the wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be held at a later date.
Memorials made be made to the American Diabetes Association, or charity of the donor's choice.




Thea Ortell Zakrison
1921 - 2010

On Feb. 24 Thea Ortell Zakrison, a long time Dillon resident, died peacefully in her sleep, and went to be with her Lord.
Thea was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Calvin, N.D., to Manassa and Marie Myers. As the youngest of 10 children, she admired and looked up to her brothers and sisters throughout her life.
In 1942, Thea married Harris O. Zakrison, and together they had one child, Rosemarie Hammond. In 1972 Harris and Thea moved to Dillon with their good friends Jean and Ken Rolandson. Thea worked in various businesses around town including Dr. Boyce's office, Stramm Jewelers, Mode O'Day, and the Forest Service.
Thea loved her family deeply and was always happy to share news about her daughter, and her many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening, and had a soft spot in her heart for animals. Thea as was active in the Lutheran Church including the Rachel Circle, and served on the election board for many years.
Thea was preceded in death by her husband, and her nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Fargo, N.D.; numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
A memorial service will take place Friday, March 12, 11a.m., at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Graveside interment will take place in June for family and friends.




Richard Daniel Eudaily
1976 - 2010

Richard Daniel Eudaily died March 2 after a sudden illness.
He as born to Janey and Dan Eudaily in Lewes, Del., August 25, 1976. Richard was reared, and grew to manhood in Dillon, Baltimore, and Billings. His last eight years, Richard resided in Dillon.
Richard inherited his grandfather's ability to remember names and faces. A best friend once commented that Richard, visiting occasionally, knew more about their BCHS classmates than he did.
Becoming debilitated by a chronic psychosis, Richard was left but a shell. He was assisted in these latter years by his mother, aunt Karen, housekeeper Kathy Griffis, and personal representative Paul Pilgrim. Many others helped guide Richard so that he could be as free a man as possible in a society he no longer understood.
He is survived by his parents; grandmother Jane Davis, Md.; sister Meredith, Billings; and numerous cousins.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Memorials may be sent to Western Montana Mental Health Center Day Program and van, 234 East Reeder, Dillon, Mt., 59725.




Gary Albert Edgekoski
1944 - 2010

Gary Albert Edgekoski, 65, born Oct. 10, 1944 in Everett, Wash., left his home in Wisdom, Saturday, March 6, to join his Father in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert Edgekoski and his mother Lillian (Ostrom) Edgekoski.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mari, who was beside him in love for 28 years; and his beloved children Donald Edgekoski (Diane) and Debi Kokulak (Bob); sisters Doris Bucklin and Joan Ivanjack; brothers Robert and Howard Edgekoski.
He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, Stephanie, Donny and Wyatt Edgekoski; and Kelsey Jo and Tyler Kokulak; as well as a hero of an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, I Corps, Hdqtrs Co., Hdqtrs Bn, 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam War; and received numerous awards, including the highest award given by the Vietnamese government - the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry - for saving his unit and two advisors, while being overrun by a large detachment of the enemy.
He went on to serve his community as a police officer in Everett, Wash., before retiring to Montana.
His contributions to his country and to his community make him someone who is remembered as a man who honorably and loyally served both those whom he loved, and those who he did not even know; with dignity and respect.
He enjoyed helping people, and making a difference by serving God, family, country and community.
He was a member of the Body of Christ and walked in faith until he was called home. He will be remembered, missed, respected, and loved by many.
Gary was a news junkie, loved golfing, pets, trailing riding, pinochle, cribbage, travel, and mostly visiting with family and friends. Everyone he met was a friend in the making, and he had a sharp sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to “Berean Bible Society, P.O. Box 756, Germantown, Wis., 53022-0756, for the promotion of the gospel of the grace of God. A ceremony will be held at Grace Bible Church, Laknar Ln., Dillon, 2 p.m., Friday, March 12. A memorial service will be held in Washington in June.


Jennett Salle Scott

Former Dillon resident Jennett Salle (Watkins) Scott passed away in Grover Beach, Calif., March 5, after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Harriet Watkins, Dillon; sister of Jim Watkins, Dillon, and Frank Watkins, Basin. A full obituary will follow at a later date.
